I tried to put this into the module (http://drupal.org/node/223657), but the pager came up all wrong. I was hoping to use this feature to sort my albums, as the sorting by weight is not supported anymore and the ascending order requires too many changes (plus new pictures should be put first).

Well, I figured it out and here is the patch. I would really appreciate it, if this could become part of the official release (after some checking). I think it may be useful to others as well, since you can use this to sort (changing the post dates around) and at the same time have new images added at the top of an album.

Here's a better solution, which allows for more sorting options. Give it a whirl and let me know what you think.
