Hi,

I am currently using Acidfree gallery and was wondering if there is a better module around? What do most other people use?

I have it setup like this: http://chinatownicecreamfactory.com/node/59

I added a custom js to make the images pop up onclick, but is there another module that can do this without me adding such a script? Also tried adding in jquery's thick box and that doesnt work.

thx

There are several modules... lightbox, jquery lightbox, craq box, thickbox. Not to be smug, but drupal.org -> modules -> javascript utilities will get you there in 2 clicks. I'd probably go for the jquery lightbox one first. Not sure about acidfree gallery, never used it.

There seem to be a million and one modules for galleries out there and like the opening poster this leave me lost at sea.

I want a gallery only, that neatly display my images. When an image is clicked on I want it to pop up in the centre of the screen. From that image I want some basic navigation i.e previous, next, close.

I'm just not sure which modules are best to do that simple task with. I know the basic image gallery module cannot.

The basic Image module will give you images with basic galleries, then to do the javascript part you have to load up one of the modules I mention above--- from what I can see jquery lightbox integrates with Image module and gives you want you want for the popup.

Lightbox did the trick - thanks

Exellent...yw... which lightbox did you end up using ... the original or jquery lightbox?

jquery lightbox

it can be seen at the link below (bare in mind i'm new to drupal this is a test site)

Obviously when I do a gallery proper the images won't vary in size quite so much.

thanks for the reply--- now anyone coming across this thread will have a solution without having to post.

Very nice. Seems actually "snappy" performance wise-- a lot of these lightbox type scripts tend to feel very slow to me. This one didn't.

What are you using for the gallery? Image module?

Just the standard image module for the gallery. I'm impressed it was really easy.

I was confused by all the different modules etc.. but this solution was really simple and effective for my purposes which will just be to show match photos.

There are indeed lots of options for what you describe. I ended up trying quite a few in the course of developing one site and in the end settled with brilliant gallery.

It has some limitations and is certainly not as laid out as chinatownicecreamfactory, but the whole thing can be set up from drupal first install to uploading pics in about 30 mins. Which is what some people need (think donated web sites for artists).

AND its very easy for non tech savvy users to UL pictures to.

But, again, its not like gallery for embedding menalto's gallery2..

Hope that helps,

I really like the http://drupal.org/project/slideshow module it's easy to use and just works with uploaded images. Not out yet for D6. You can check out my blog linked below for lots of examples
