I saw this on the main module page:

Given that Massmailer recently been updated for Drupal 5 I am thinking of abandoning this project. If anyone has any persausive arguments for or against this proposition, I would be very pleased to hear them !

I checked and didn't see any activity on Massmailer since April 2006.

I'm thinking about using PHP List for a client's mailing list because I need to be able to handle bounces and other things that Simplenews can't handle. Is this module going to be maintained?

Or maybe it would be better to put my energies into Simplenews and add a couple of features. I could also use a dedicated email address to handle the bounces.
From the issue queue it doesn't seem like tons of people use this module. Do you have any idea?

I am also quite confused by the message in the module page, since MassMailer by itself seems abandoned..

Would love to know the status of this module.

Thanks!

Hi,

There is discussion about it here, with links to the update and comments from various people attempting to use it: http://drupal.org/node/128219.

Given the repsonse I have had, I anticipate continuing supporting and developing my module as it comes at things from a sufficiently different angle to justify its existence.

In response the question about SimpleNews, I'm afraid I can't answer in greate detail as I only looked at it long enough to know that it didn't do a whole load of things that phpList does, and that adding those features in seemed like re-inventing the wheel!

Some more updates and features will be added to this project very shortly!

Regards,

- Paul

@paulbeaney: Thanks for the update and for your continued support. I will be following development on this module in the project page.

To respond to this original issue, the update to MassMailer is oddly buried as an attachment in #216178: PHPList for Drupal 5.x. For me, it is not usable until it appears in the project page..
