Default to all images

I've tried my hand at altering the image assist module to default its browse view to show all images that have been uploaded by my many users instead of just the images they have uploaded themselves. The use case for this is that I'm using img_assist to manage all of my sites smileys ( and its doing an excellent job so far ).

So what's the catch? I've tried modifying img_assist.module, img_assist.js, img_assist_tinymce.js (did i mention that I'm using tinymce?) I though all I had to do was to change how the img_assist popup inits. Where did I go wrong?
