Hello Drupal Users!

Don't you wish there was a database of module ratings and reviews that was easily searchable, with nice graphs, and a slick interface? Well, now there is!

I'm proud to present DrupalModules.com, a community-powered Drupal module review site!

Now you can:
- Rate and review any module
- Compare modules to see which has the best features, documentation, etc
- Check how many downloads a module is getting
- Easily search modules and reviews for keywords
- Get automatic recommendations for similar modules
- And more!

I've been working on this site for over a year now, and I'm happy to finally open it to the public...

But now I need your help! This site only reaches its true potential when users log in and create reviews! If you ever wanted to say thanks to a module developer, now's your chance to give them a glowing review. Maybe you found a hidden gem, and you want to tell the world! Perhaps you want to sound off about a module you didn't like at all (just keep it civil, please!). The more reviews, the better!

So, in closing, I just want to say thanks for your attention, and I hope you find this site useful! Please let me know what you think.

As I said on IRC, I really like it. My regret is that it's not part of drupal.org, though. I hate to have such needed functionality away from the "mother ship" and hope that somehow it could be integrated.

I agree there could be some nice benefits from integration with Drupal.org, and I hope to discuss all the possibilities. But I also believe that this site can flourish outside of the Drupal.org infrastructure, much like how the Theme Garden currently does.

I can only allocate a part time effort to Drupal among other things. I waste a lot of times trying to figure out what modules work best. I think Drupal is the best CMS system out there and new sites like this will help everyone else realize this as well.

This is a nice use of nodereviews. Given the somewhat confusing and dilapidated state of drupal review modules will you release this or at the very lest provide a way for other drupal users to take advantage of node reviews like you have?

cheers

I have some patches in mind for NodeReviews. My main goal at the moment is to keep improving the site, but I do plan to contribute code back as I have time :)

That would be cool. I actually tried out a lot of the review mods a while back and didnt like how nodereviews created a seperate page/node for each review.

I ended up using nodecomments with fivestar as it allowed for the greatest flexability and customization with other modules but it did not integrate well with the voting api.

Im actually still looking for a proper review module.

Great job, I like the way things are organized, it's kindda neat, much better than drupal.org itself :P
If I may suggest, some modules don't have a demo site, it'd be great imo if users also posted their site that used the module wherever suitable.

very cool. posted my first rating just a while ago. well done.
but the site will only be truly a valuable tool when there is a reasonably large number of evaluations/ratings. wouldnt it be nice if this announcement could be posted to drupal.org front page? or sticky here and/or in the general discussion forum? just to generate some volume.
i think its worth it.

Which review module did you use?

JohnForsythe’s picture

It's a custom module based on code from the NodeReview module.

I came across this site a while ago and am pleased to see it doing well. Reviews are important especially with a lot of modules being able to do the same thing, it's nice to be able to look to the community to pick the best ones.

John,
this is a very useful site.
Is it possible to list the modules with the ratings next to it? And to list ordered by rating?
Right now I have to manually click on each module name and see if it has a rating.

JohnForsythe’s picture

Which list? All the teaser views show rating graphs if the modules have a rating.

For example, what is the sort order on this page? I would expect it to be descending. (although in that case i guess then a finer rating system, 4.7 instead of 4 would be more useful)

JohnForsythe’s picture

That's a standard Drupal search result page, it tries to order results by their relevance to your keywords.

I see. In that case, I'd recommend ordering by ranking.
I believe the ranking is only listed for that version.
But I guess the ranking does not change much from version to version.
So I was reading the ranking of every voting module for every version trying to find the top-rated ones. Writing down which module had a rating for which version.

But more importantly, it's a terrific site. Thanks for making it.
