Firstly Great module... simple yet effective!
My question i want to add span tags ONLY around the outputted link text. i have added them around the ' $link ' in the last lines in the module but this adds the span around EVERYTHING and that wont work for my CSS.

Canyou post your changed code here?
Instead of changing the module you can override the display in your theme.
