Hi,

Could you make this auto assign a role when creating the user?

This would be great and would make Auto Assign Role (http://drupal.org/project/autoassignrole) obsolete (looking for maintainer) and Role Signup (already deprecated).

To be able to auto-assign a specific role based on the chosen type would really be the definitive feature for this module.
At present different registration fields for different membership types, with automatic role assignment, can only be achieved via a sub-system of modules including Node profiles, Pageroute and Membership types. It creates a flexible process but is a hell to set up.
Definitely not for everyone.
User types gets to the same point in an easier way, extending the basic Profile module. But lacks auto-assignment.
I cannot code in PHP, but if anyone wants to develop the auto-assignment function, count me in as a tester, available immediately!
For an 11 KB piece of code, and re-using concepts from Auto Assign Role, this shouldn't be difficult... or not?
It is such a pity that this module is abandoned!

It's not abandoned anymore.

Auto-assign is a cool feature which I'm currently working on. One thing I need input from you guys: does it need approval first by an administrator or is it ok to go with immediately ?

Now that I think of, we could make a setting of course. Let me know what you think!

Auto assignment of a role per use type is now built in. Next development built (within a few hours) has this feature.
