I´m writing on a community package for D6 at the moment.
It contain´s completly new written Modules for:
- Private Messages

drupaloSa commentedHi Michelle, there is an official Panels2 release now (it says alpha code though), so i hope you can finally start working on the port.
michelleAPK won't be ported. See project page.

japanitrat commentedhmm ...
project page says you intend to port it after bugs in the 5.x version have been fixed, so I guess this issue can be opened again?
I'd love to see apk for D6 soon, but ive no idea how to help you bugfixing 5.x branch, since I began module-development with the D6 API.
how can I help you getting the port done faster?

michelleI'm not actually aware of any bugs. It's worked fine for me on every site I've used it on. Some people have reported problems, though, so I was going to at least make an attempt to figure them out. I was also going to make some changes to the code based on things I've learned from advanced forum. So nothing specific I can farm out.
Honestly, if you have the skills to help port then you really don't even need this module. Just get panels and views, set up a panels page with user/% as the path, add fields/groups from your profile node, add views, and voila. This module just puts things together to make it easier for people who don't really get how to do this on their own. The only really tricky thing about it is the "user info" pane that has when they joined and the contact link and such.
Alternately, set APK up on a D5 site, make some small mods to all the bits so it gets overridden in the database, upgrade the site, and re-export it all. Haven't tried it, but that would probably get most if not all of it. The views would be the hardest part since views changed so much but panels isn't that different.
For anyone looking at me like I have two heads with my suggestions and wondering when it's just going to get ported, it's probably going to be a couple more weeks. I've been spending all my time working on AF and have a pile up of neglected things and people I need to take care of before I start something new.

Rosamunda commentedLike all your explanation Michelle, because I´m seeking for a way to create better profiles very soon in a 6.x version.
Thanks!!
michelleI wouldn't expect it soon. It's blocked on panels itself not being fully functional and there's not much I can do to hurry that up.

Rosamunda commentedYes, I know :) Sorry for the misunderstandig, I meant when you´ve said "Honestly, if you have the skills to help port then you really don't even need this module. I didn´t realize that way of doing it. And even if I like your module better, this pretty much fill the gap while I wait for AdvProfile to be in the 6.x road.
Thanks!

michelleAh, well, unfortunately, when I wrote that I didn't realize the problems that D6 panels still had. I don't mean to come off as arrogant but if I'm running into roadblocks putting the pieces together for the module I suspect it's going to be even harder for the average user. The big blocker right now is that content profile doesn't have the needed relationship code and I ran into issues in panels when trying to write a patch for it. There's also some issues with panels overriding the user page but I think those might be resolved in the latest dev.
So, basically, it's in the works but it's going slow. The pieces I need just aren't quite ready.

tracerhand commentedThanks for all this thought and effort, Michelle. It's funny - it's like you have an "audience" for this coding work! We're all behind you, though. Hang in there.
michellePostponed until panels for D6 is stable and has an upgrade path from D5.

Rosamunda commentedChanging it´s name for better tracking :)

michelleStarted work on this... Working around the panels issues. Haven't branched, yet. Attaching what I have so far as a backup. Don't bother downloading it. It's not even remotely close to working.

michelleLast night's efforts. My host went down so I couldn't get at the files to upload them. Still not ready to be used but making good progress.
Relies on #349987: Panels / fieldgroup integration in D6 & #350161: Panels integration as well as the new author pane module.

michelleI've branched for D6 and am actively working on it. Closing this issue as it's no longer needed.
