Hmmm... Looking into it a bit further it does appear to be down to this module rather than the acl one...
BTW, using mysql 5.0.54 - not that I think it makes any difference, I'm sure its the html codes causing the error. Obviously fairly important I sort this out asap as currently the events calendar appears to be empty as the permissions are crashing...
