how can I give citation information on the Book Module?

I have Drupal 6.1 installed. I have enabled the Book Module. It is working really well. Very happy about it. My content in the book pages contain references which I guess I need to put manually in to the text like

It is reported that such and such info[Jo Block et al.]

Then at the bottom of the page somewhere I want to show the reference location as

Jo Block et al., New Scientist, Volume 13, pages 123-124

The idea is to list all the references of the page (it is a pain if I need to re-locate the content though) at the bottom of the page, like a footnote.

How can I do this in the book pages?

My alternative is to list the references at the end of the book.

how about.... citation filter module?

or there's also a footnotes module.

I wasn't aware of the citation filter or footnote modules. I will investigate those. thanks
