Description

What's the difference between this and flashvideo?

Curious since I didn't see this module until today and seems similar to flashvideo so not sure which one to use.

Will try it out today and post which one I like better!

OP Video uses CCK, so it is much powerful than FlashVideo.

Changing back to active. FlashVideo has the CCK plugin for uploading videos. Any other pro's and con's between these modules?

Key differences that I can see:

  1. FlashVideo requires the use of a special tag to embed videos within textual content. OP Video just displays uploaded videos as another CCK field, separate from any other content the node might have. The OP Video approach is more user-friendly and conducive to building a site where the video is the content, but if you need the ability to embed videos at various locations in the body of your non-video-centric nodes, FlashVideo would be better.
  2. FlashVideo has the ability to embed videos from external providers like YouTube and Google Video. If this is a deal-breaker, FlashVideo is the way to go (though it may be possible with OP Video's URL field if you're really clever).
  3. OP Video has support for an external transcoding service. If you don't want the hassle of setting up ffmpeg on your web server, and you're willing to pay for the service, that will swing your decision in favor of OP Video.

Feel free to correct me if something's amiss, I haven't actually tried out FlashVideo since OP Video suited my needs better.

Great!

Thanks for the help. With so many new modules getting created, I am having a hard time sorting through them all. Thanks for the key differences between the two modules.

If you want to embed videos from youtube or google then you should use emfield.
