After creating view with slideshow list -- how do you attach an image?

I've installed views slideshow and created a view with block and page enabled. I left the url for the page blank. I've created a field with image as link on the view. I used the block module to locate the slideshow but only see the label of the field displayed. I'm not clear as to how you get the images into the slideshow.
