I know Drupal is a polymorphic monster, it can take many forms in any shape, you name it and Drupal has it!!!

But its a serious issue before you start working on some huge projects that can change with time, to select the right weapons before you go on a WAR ie. implement your project. I was much confused over building a Job Portal based on some CMS system, would that proove to be the right choice? And Drupal as we all know is the Best place to start with.

Im curious to know if anyone has done this before me? or even if its possible with Drupal? And yep there are some other projects I have inline a Yellow Pages portal and Matrimonial Portal. I would also like to know if all these Portals can be made in Drupal by using a mixture of CCK, Views and some more modules by some of the blessed authors who work very hard to make Drupal a Pioneer CMS system.

Yes, jobsearch module is perfect for building Job Portal site using Drupal. I developed http://www.benchmarkhrsolutions.com using jobsearch and other supportive module.
Another module that can be helpful to build job portal is http://drupal.org/project/job_posting . This module provides lesser functionalities but it's light weight and can be installed easily and go up soon.

My 2 cents :)

I'm a Engineering final year student. I need to redo my project to get the certificate. My professor suggest me to make use of CMS to build job portal at a faster pace. I'm clues about how to go about it.

Please help me complete the project by guiding me. Let me know the following things first:
On which version of drupal have you developed your job portal
Wat r the other modules that have been helpful.

@chinnasharma1

There is lot to learn for you.

For just building a job portal you just need the above 2 modules.

Also you may have to do a job search section which you can make using views.

Apply, application processing everything handled in those 2 modules (jobsearch, job_posting).

Thanks a lot all of you. The project has taken some shape now.

Both these modules have been helpful. However if somebody can help/guide me prepare job search functionality using views i shall be grateful. Thats the final barrier I have to break to submit a reasonably good deliverable.

I wish I would have seen this earlier. I could definitely help you out. As I have done it for sooo many times I can create a simple job portal within 3-4 days only. I have even made a documentation on how to create a job portal using Drupal. Though I am afraid I can't share it publicly because I have signed NDA with the company for whom I have developed the job portal.

Please Man, I need your urgent help, i've tried these modules on my own but still can't get an headway. Please can you just highlight the necessary steps needed to make a complete job portal, i'd so much appreciate it if you can send these steps to my email at ooduque@gmail.com. Thank you in anticipation. I'd not leak out any idea or knowledge shared with me, that's a promise.

I too want to build a job portal and I could really use your tutorial or any information you got on the subject. It would be really great if you could share any of it with me, I'm feeling kind of lost right now, I want it to be a fully functional product.

I've been able to install the job search module which i read can be used with jobplus module, unfortunately, jobplus module requires some modules like activeselect which is not yet available for drupal 6, please anyone that has been able to implement this modules successfully for a jobsite should inbox me the details, as i do not know how to go about it. my email is ooduque@gmail.com
Tank you all, as all help is well appreciated and welcome
