Hi All, want to contribute (if insufficient or missleading or incomplete please, let me know!)
and build a page with also the support of some descriptional pictures for:

  • A brief, recapitulative road map of some Drupal's registered Member Utilities.
A brief list with pictures support that presents the main points in a concise form of
some of the menus and submenus as blocks, disponible to Drupals registered members.
  • You may see the first version of the 2 tables I already have made here:

    Members-Tasks-Table_01
    Members-Tasks-Table_02

I wanted to make a book page but do not yet if it is concerned. I mean i have made
2 Photoshop files ready for being downloaded a the above adresses for who want to
contribute and know how and where to publish on Drupal.org.

    Cheers

A brief, recapitulative road map of some Drupal's registered Member Utilities.

This sounds like a good thing. Mentioning/describing the blocks which a user can activate, and how to activate the contact tab. Perhaps also the newsletter and security newsletter, and maybe groups.drupal.org, and the very useful "My recents posts" list at http://drupal.org/tracker/inser-your-userid-here. Possibly other stuff too?

I'm not sure where it should be placed in the handbook, do you have any suggestions?

However, this should, as far as possible, be text, not images. An image is much, much harder to update when something changes. As for your explanations, most of them don't add much information. I don't see a need for explaining that "Create content" is a collapsible menu item with different submenu choices. However, it is useful to menion that all registered users can create book pages (for the handbook), forum posts, and issues.

    Hi Zirvap,

Thank you for your suggestions. Yes of course my intention is to format everything in "scripting" and if necessary add
an image too. Appreciate your agree about the utility of my tryout and I will soon post here a version in text, but i will wait an expert webmaster of Drupal.org to find the right place where and how to publish all on the Handbook.

    Thanks

See also this related issue: #240235: Contrib Redesign: Get a drupal.org account

I think the goal of this information should be to tell people who haven't registered yet about the new blocks they will get if the register. Hopefully, this will lead to more people registering. Do you agree?
Or do you also see a need to explain the blocks better, for people who are already registered?

    Some suggestions:

    • The description "Collapsible Menu-item with different submenu choice." is not very useful. For "Create content", I suggest you instead say something like "Registered users can create issues, forum posts, and new pages in the handbooks."
    • For some of the links, your description doesn't add much information. For instance, you have written that "News aggregator" links to "News aggregations". Instead, I suggest you mention that this block contains useful links and shortcuts, like http://drupal.org/aggregator/categories and http://drupal.org/tracker
    Wolfflow’s picture

Yes I agree with you and I will correct the point that you mentioned.

    And yes to:

this will lead to more people registering.

    and also to:

see a need to explain the blocks better, for people who are already registered

because I'm sure that Drupal is a CMS that is made for (of any age, provenience, education, language etc.) any type of users and we should try to support them all with simple documentation pages with pictures,
so to target the most possible broad number of registered Members and Visitors, indipendently of their learning
    curve position.

So we can make the time for new registered members being logged in, on Drupal.org a bit easer and faster to manage and so accelerate they learning curve upwards.

    and to :

For instance, you have written that "News aggregator" links to "News aggregations".

Jus as information my learning curve do not embrace "News aggregator", thouth.
I did not find yet a page, posting, issue that explain and describe this function in a simple way
so that I can understand how to implement and have under control on my HP. :-( about News aggregator.

Ok to the rest I will add the description and remake the Pictures.

    Thank's

    Hallo, Dman, and Zirvap,

I just spend a lot of times to figure out How to do this "Registered Drupal Users Block Table" in the suggested way.
Just in the last Days I figure out on my Test-Drupal Sites that I can expand the number of "Tags" I can use in editing a node with Table and other HTLM formatting tags. It will not be easy to mirror the same Layout of the Menu-Block in Html, but I will continue on this. If there is anyone who might want to contribute with Hints, is very appreciate.

    Cheers

    zirvap’s picture

I think it's not important to recreate the layout of the block. I suggest just writing this as text.

    For instance something like:

    • ...describe the first links...
    • Create content: All registered users can create book pages for the handbook, forum topics, and new issues.
    • ...describe the rest of the links...

As for the new Redesign of Drupal.org will be soon on line I will set it to "won't fix" this may change after the new design will be online. A lot of thinks will be different and new images will be needed and descriptions also.
