When I have installed the newest versions of recuired modules (Image Gallery Access 5.x-1.x-dev, ACL 5.x-1.x-dev, Image 5.x-1.x-dev) on clean Drupal site on my computer and created 2 users,
I tried to create under each user image nodes, but have had a problem: images which I created directly throught creating image node I couldn't see but images which I attached to other content type (blog) I could see in gallery.
When I've authorized under admin I could see uploaded Images in gallery, so image have uploaded (and image nodes have created) but user can't see them, only admin (1st user).
Other experiments have had good results - permissions works in the right way.

salvisPlease do a [Rebuild permission] from admin/content/node-settings. This will fix the permissions of the existing images.
I've committed a fix to 5.x-1.x-dev (wait about 12 hours). Please update and let me know, whether you still have problems when creating new images.
