How do i check to see if nodes like node profile exist in the usernode?

Issue Summary

Hi,

I want to create an edit box that links to either edit if i am looking at my profile and create if i am looking at the usernode but the node profile is not created.

i see that create links are there, but I don't see how I can replicate this.
