The Fade Speed value affects and essentially overrides the Fade Value. If you have Fade Speed set to "slow" and Fade Value set to 1, the transition essentially does not exist - instead the next photo appears very quickly without showing the fade. I would expect that the fade would still be slow, but that the fade overlap would be greater. The way it works now, it appears that the fade must get fully opaque before the next image fades in? It shouldn't happen this way.

joeboris commentedAlso in beta1; the fade into the next image starts, but then the next image snaps into place.
Perhaps allowing a manual setting for "Global slideshow fade speed" in milliseconds would be a quick fix for this issue as it seems to be that the length of the fade sequence is too short to accommodate the actual sequence.
