My employer, Biggs-Gilmore, has been doing several Drupal projects in the past few months. One of our main clients uses Oracle 10g as their database back-end so we've had to port the Drupal base and additional modules to support this platform. We've made a handful of changes to this module for that purpose. See the attached patch. For now we've only made changes to the install procedure.

Drupal 6 now supports any DB system that you can write a driver for, so this is no longer necessary in Drupal 6. Since I'm unable to test this patch and Oracle support very uncommon, I'm marking as won't fix.
