hi,

Please excuse me, if you dont understand.

Is there any way to divide users into different groups and allocate them different access rules.

Actually, what i am looking for is, i have a personal website with all of my friends as users. i want to create few groups and add the users to different groups like childhood friends, school friends, college friends, sport friends, bar friends, work place friends...etc. so, once i divide them into groups i want to setup few access rules like only same group members can view profiles, content of that group but not from other groups.

And one more feature i need is i could add users as many groups as i want.(because few friends may be always with me from childhood to work place)

Why i need this is to enable chating, profile view, content view, private messaging between the common friends (users belongs to a particular group are common friends to each user in that group). i.e i want to isolate my friend groups.

I suggest you have a look at the Organic Groups module http://drupal.org/project/og.

hi gpk,

i tried organic groups , but i did not get what i am looking for. Here, i want to create groups and i want to add users to different groups, Users can not see anything about groups like which groups they belong to. only those group people can view each other profies and activities.

If you know how to do that with og, can you tell me briefly.

thanks.

OK, I'll come clean, I've not used OG myself ... except that I've used sites that use it (like http://groups.drupal.org).

Which part of your requirement did you have trouble with? OG includes node access control, which means you can control who sees which content...

Looks like harineel won't be posting any feedback and j.patrick1982 found his solution here http://drupal.org/node/234263#comment-983134
Setting to fixed. Feel free to reopen if you think that is wrong.
