lifewire_diff.module, lines 90 to 102 defines two additional local menu items... However the 'title' element is not defined, resulting in the display of two empty menu buttons (in our test installation, anyway!).

Line numbers are no longer current but i know where in the code you are referring to. I admit i am not completely clear that the way i have done this is right (Drupal sucks for managing menu items).. but this was necessary to get tabs right on our site.
Try out the latest dev version of the module and see if that helps (even though i doubt it will) and i'll see if i can get a chance to try this module on a vanilla 5.7 install.

i think this is now fixed with latest rev (5.x-1.1)
