I can always tell when I ask something most people know, or has been explained. Zoom... right past me Thanks for explaining and please excuse.

But I'm still stuck on the <none> (top child term choice) that is appearing in the Parnet term, but not in the Child Terms (levels 2 and 3)

? Do I need to add a <none> choice at the top each term choice level?

or is this even a thing to be concerned about?

All you have to do, is enable the "Allow the user to select a term from any level" option. Then select a term in the first level, and select nothing (thus leave it at the level label, which is empty by default). This will have the effect you want/need.
