I'm using 6.x with new image assist, and no wysiwyg editor. When I have captcha installed for the site however, a drop-down menu for including captcha appears in the top segment of the pop-up window where the "upload"/"select" button appears for image_attach. Currently I have captcha set to provide images for comment_form, contact_mail_page, and webform_node_form. Is there a way to preclude catcha from capturing the image_assist window? Thanks!

AFAIK, you can disable this additional form element in CAPTCHA's module settings. It just allows you to enable a CAPTCHA challenge for this form. Once you've configured all your publicly visible forms, you can disable this setting in CAPTCHA module's module settings.
