currently this module allows the addition of single nodes to a post.

I think it would be a great improvement to allow galleries to also be embedded into the post.

No idea how the ui should be to allow for this. As for the filter markup, that could be something simple like [gallery|tid=x]

This would require that Image Assist would use Inline API, which is not ready yet.

Unfortunately, that's slightly outside of the scope of IA. Soon to be available via Inline module though.
