When no time entered, date resets to 1/1

Just downloaded the latest dev version to fix a separate issue. I use a node type with a Text Field with jquery pop-up calendar of type 'Date'. When I do not include the time with my date (I just enter the date, assuming it will fill in 12:00 am as it has done previously), the date changes to 1/1/08 (I'm assuming the year is just maintained). Not sure if this is a jquery issue or API or what, so I put it under API as a sort of catch all.
