Advanced cache path_cache.patch- can't find file to patch at input line 8

When I apply the patch for path_cache.patch I get the following on Drupal 5.8

File to patch: ./includes/common.inc
can't find file to patch at input line 8

can't find file to patch at input line 23

patching file ./includes/path.inc
can't find file to patch at input line 156

Do I need this? How do I apply these patches?
