When I disable the drop box in the configuration options for the view, the drop box still shows up. Tested on clean install of 5.9, only modules installed are admin menu, views, views ui, hs, hs taxonomy, hs taxonomy views.

Whether the dropbox will be enabled or not depends on the "Force single" option for the exposed filter being set or not.

I'll improve the form to clarify this.
