Also really really hoping for a d5 port. D5 image album support is nothing short of abysmal, it's D5's single worst quality.

+1 from me for sure.

In drupal 5.x, file (data table: files) depends on the node, rather than users. This has led to the next upgrade to 6.x, a lot of trouble.
drupal 7 beta has been issued, I suggest to give up 5.x, upgrade to 6.x.

A huge majority of contributed modules has not been ported to drupal 6, such as content recomendation, event module, imagecache (only an alpha in 6x), and other smaller modules have been been ported to drupal 6, and as such a huge amount of drupal users, I would say the majority of drupal users, are still using d5. If you want this module to reach the maximum amount of users, I would strongly suggest seeing what can be done to port it to d5. I think the interest is self-evident.

I understand that. I am worried about is: In view of the drupal5 and drupal6 differences. In the future, photos5 upgrade to photos6 will be in trouble.
In the future, photos5 how to make a smooth upgrade to photos6, this is a problem.
