The diff view loses all the newlines and Polish characters (spaces are displayed instead). It is so no matter which option I choose (2 column or inline). The standard diff module displays the diff OK.
Is it a bug or I can change it somehow?

likely a bug in how I aggressively clean up content.

unlikely i'll get around to fixing this but feel free to contribute a patch. Drupal 6 version of Diff module supports inline diff formatting; perhaps consider upgrading your site to Drupal 6.
