Hi,
I've installed Wysiwyg with TinyMCE and the Image Assist module on a Drupal 6 installation. However, I cannot find documentation on how to integrate the two, even though Image Assist is apparently supporting the Wysiwyg module.
When configuring the Wysiwyg editor settings there is no button/plugin for Image Assist. Image Assist on its own is working fine. I've checked permissions for wysiwyg editing, inline images in input formats annd everything mentioned in the readmes.
Any advice welcome!
Image Assist: 6.x-2.x-dev
Wysiwyg: 6.x-1.x-dev
thanks
Hendrik

sunHm. Reminds me of http://drupal.org/node/179712#comment-901341, however, it seems we failed to provide the actual solution over there.
So a simple guess: Are you using the current development snapshots of both modules?
hendrik.fuss commentedYes, just downloaded development snapshots of both earlier today.
As a Drupal-newbie I would normally go for stable releases, but Wysiwyg for D6 is not only available as release. I've tried a number of different configurations with fckeditor and the tinymce package, but couldn't get image uploading to work with any of them.
sunStrange. Just to be sure: You did not move the drupalimage folder into TinyMCE's plugin folder, correct? This was required by the TinyMCE module, but is superfluous and must not be done with the Wysiwyg Editor module.
hendrik.fuss commentedActually, I did. Coming from the tinyMCE package I probably wrongly assumed I would have to do just that.
Maybe I should start again with a clean installation?
sunYes, in that case, it might be safest to start-over with a clean copy of both modules.
Be sure to read the README.txt ;)
Considering this issue as fixed.

arhak commentedsorry, didn't meant to change the status
neither this was the issue to which I was intended to subscribe
Comment #8
hendrik.fuss commentedYep, after thoroughly reading the readmes it works for me now. :)
Ran into one other problem: TinyMCE version 3 won't work with ImageAssist, it has to be TinyMCE 2. Maybe this should be emphasised in README.TXT under Installation.
thanks for your support

sunI thought this was clear. Committed a clarification.

lvthunder commentedI'm having the same issue with no button showing up to be selected in the profile. In the install.txt file it shows copying the folder to the tinymce plugins folder. I did that. Then it says to edit the file plugin_reg.php, but my copy of TinyMCE using the WYSIWYG module doesn't have that file. What do I need to do?
sunomg... I have absolutely no idea how we can communicate better that all of the nasty copying and file editing that was required for TinyMCE module is no longer required.
In fact, if you did copy/move or edit files, you broke the module yourself.
Please, please tell me, what's needed to communicate this better? Which installation instructions did you read? Where do we have to put this large notice?
lvthunder commentedMaybe say if you are using the Wysiwyg module copying and file editing that was required for TinyMCE module is no longer required. That would work. I read the install.txt that came with the module. Add this to the end of the file.
-- WYSIWYG PLUGIN INSTALLATION --
Go to
Administer > Site configuration > WYSIWYG Editor
then edit your profile. Click Buttons and plugins and check the box for the button.
Except for me the button isn't there. It never has been there. That's why I thought I had to copy that folder to the plugins folder of tinymce.

sunGotcha! Due to your comment, I just noticed that the README.txt link on the project page pointed to the old 1.x version - corrected now.
However, 2.x no longer ships with an INSTALL.txt file. So I really wonder whether this issue is assigned to the correct version...?
lvthunder commentedMy issues not. I'm not sure about the other ones so I won't change it. I just downloaded the 1.x beta version for Drupal 6 and thought that since it said beta it was the latest version. Should I be using the dev snapshot of 2.x instead.
sun@lvthunder: This issue is about 2.x. If you have 1.x installed, all of what has been mentioned in this issue does not apply to the module version you are using. 1.x is compatible with TinyMCE module only, and you need to follow the installation instructions for 1.x exactly. 2.x is no longer compatible with TinyMCE module, but with Wysiwyg module instead. For 2.x, none of the previous installation instructions of 1.x apply.
Please ensure to follow the installation instructions in the README.txt/INSTALL.txt files that are contained in the module version you have downloaded.
Please also note that TinyMCE module is no longer actively developed/maintained, which has been (one of) the reasons for dropping support in favor of Wysiwyg module in 2.x.
lvthunder commentedOK it works now. I updated to the 2.x module. On the project page I would clarify that 1.x works with TinyMCE module and 2.x works with WYSIWYG. I read at the top of the page that I should use WYSIWYG because TinyMCE module is being phased out. Then I get to the bottom of the page and see the green check mark that says Recommended for Drupal 6 I see it's a beta so I download it thinking that it is the latest and greatest. Thanks for the help sun.

alrueden commentedPlease, do this! It's not clear from the project page or documentation.
I was also tripped up by this issue because my husband (who is a programmer) didn't want to install an Alpha version. He assumes that means bugs for sure. So instead he got the 1.1 version, which doesn't work with WYSIWYG API. I was pulling my hair out trying to understand why I couldn't even find the Image Assist option in WYSIWYG Profiles, when it worked just fine on another site. The reason is that I had downloaded the modules for the other site, and I went with the "recommended" version!
Happy ending: I was able to uninstall the 1.1 version and install the correct version and everything is working fine now.
