It would be nice to have a configuration checkbox allowing to discard all the cache tables (by cache I mean all tables related to the current state that won't apply once restored in the future AND maybe those recreable tables which might be recreated once the snapshot is restored i.e. menu_router might be rebuilt with menu_rebuild)

Yes, it's already contained in 6.x. However, probably untested. If there are any issues, please re-open the other issue.
