We have a forum that is private (called the "Body Piercer Forum" in the container "Piercer Community Forums" and only the group "piercers" can access it). But, we still want the world to know that there is a forum called the "Body Piercer Forum" in the container "Piercer Community Forums". Is there a way for us to still have that forum show up in the forum list but not allow anyone but "piercers" to see the posts/make posts in that forum?

Thanks!

Forum Access doesn't directly support this, but you could create a second, look-alike forum that those see who can't see the "Body Piercer Forum". It would always be empty, but I think that's what you want anyway, or at least what you'd get from such a feature.

Except that I would still want people to see the post count/latest post title, etc. like in the other forums. I added a description to the container and some permissions for the container so at least the container will appear.

That's what I thought... No node access module can give you that. Either you see posts or you don't, and if you don't, then you can't count them either. If you could count them, you'd see them in the forum (Forum is a core module) and in Search results, and even if you'd theme the forum to hide them, they'd still be accessible by guessing node IDs.

I suppose that there is no workaround to this in D6, true?

Thanks in advance, Simon.

No, you can't see counts and no nodes at the same time, because that's essentially the same query.

Vbulletin has this feature and it would be very nice to use. Basically it is teaser access that shows people a few titles etc.
