Since the "original" images I upload are usually too big to work with my narrow layout, I want to make it so that when people click on "original" it links straight to the image. I scoured the theme functions in class_image.inc but none of them seem to address this need. What's the best way to do this?

vhmauery commentedGo to admin/user/access and uncheck 'admin/user/access'. This does not work for admin, but it will work for all other users.

elly commentedI'm sorry, and uncheck what? I've actually got none of the acidfree options checked for anonymous users in access control, and that's the role I want to be able to click straight through to the image.

I just want the 'original' link at the bottom of the image to go to the image itself, not the image in a page.

vhmauery commentedyou are not looking for 'Acidfree' permissions, Acidfree does not actually control those links. That is done with the image module. admin/user/access -> 'Image Module' section -> View original images. Sorry, I had a typo in my original post.
