paypal processing in Drupal 6.x ?

Hi there good people!

I'm an experienced php programmer but relatively new to Drupal... and am helping another consultant with a project that will require Paypal. She has already installed Drupal 6.4 and wants to stay on a 6.x platform, but nearly all the Paypal code that I could find in the Modules page is only at 5.x, including your Simple Paypal Framework! My questions are:

1) what is your approximate release date for a 6.x version of Simple Paypal Framework ?

2) are there any other solutions you would recommend that are available right now that would do the Paypal processing (if I have to write the rest of the code to link this to a recurring payment (ie: yearly subscription) then so be it... but I am not even a Paypal user myself, let alone know much about it on a technical level, and certainly wouldn't want to try writing the gateway from scratch myself!)
