, how much longer will http://drupal.org/user/343088 be allowed to continue unchecked?

I've been sitting on my hands having relegated him to /dev/null some weeks ago, but then recently another user received a warning (http://drupal.org/node/301986) for a much less serious office, imo. Although cross posting like a maniac, his posts were generally inoffensive and he was legitimately seeking an answer to a valid, and somewhat complex, drupal issue.

FT, on the other hand is nothing more than a clueless attention seeking troll that does nothing but post intentionally incendiary topics, berate and insult people silly enough to take their time and try to respond intelligently, and then toss it all off with the excuse that "it's your problem if you don't know how to take me, i'm not changing, too bad on you".

enough is really enough... it's disrupting the forums and presenting a bad image to those new to the community.

I agree with WorldFallz, the user does seem like a troll. I decided a while ago their favorite drink was wine.

Title: problem user » Fitness Trainer: troll or passionate?

Well...did you "check" him?

There is no High Committee of Acceptable Posting Behavior to regulate things like this. The community social norms are decided by those who say something so you should feel free to let him know your feelings. Step 1 in that process is using his contact tab. Step 2 is an issue in the queue with the username in the title (so he is more likely to know that you've started it) and with links to specific inappropriate behavior to make it easy to review the person's actions (especially with a prolific writer like Fitness Trainer).

I did yes (see my comment: http://drupal.org/node/296390#comment-977833), I believe nevets did as well, and I know VeryMisunderstood has. However after the sexist tone of his reply to the thread I just linked, i consigned him to /dev/null. But I spend a great deal of time in the forums and they're constantly bombarded by his nonsense. But i'd value your opinion greggles-- take a look at the link in this message and the other viral threads he's started (like http://drupal.org/node/298463 & http://drupal.org/node/300144) and judge for yourself.

@WorldFallz - thanks for the link to the inappropriate thread. I agree it's inappropriate. I've added a comment.

I've been following his posts since they started a month ago and have gotten increasingly more and more annoyed. At first I thought he was just yet another newbie who thinks we don't know what's broken around here. And he kept talking about trying to help once he figured things out so I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But he's just gotten worse and worse with no sign of stopping. Folks who know me know I'm slow to ban anyone but a spammer but I think it's reached the point that he is toxic to the community. If he's not willing to tone it down and settle in to become a productive or at least quiet member of the community, then I think it's time to pull the plug.

+1 on "toxic"

The best I can say is that he's a highly skilled troll, able to push a lot of buttons, then disguise 'rudeness' as 'passion' and 'ignorance' with 'a desire to learn'.
His more recent posts are at least less full of bile, if that's saying anything.

But being offensive, then making excuses is not the same as not being offensive in the first place.
Disagreeing with, and directly criticizing the folk that are attempting to answer his questions http://drupal.org/node/300144 is not winning behaviour.

A formal warning is in order. He's been told enough times in the threads already, and blown it off each time.

that was enough for me to see so many people tired of his posts and to see his negative reaction to my warning.

To restate the popular email signature "this user blocked from my iPhone." ;)

Somebody, Please freeze a couple of those threads. They are rotten and morbidly sticky. :-/

I'm grateful to know it wasn't just me taking things wrong and "toxic" was the perfect word. Thanks for responding so quickly and thoughtfully to the situation-- yet one more reason to be proud to be a member of the drupal community.

i have to say though-- i seriously doubt this is the end of it. i'm fully expecting to him back with another userid-- though it's not likely he will be able to conceal his identity for very long, lol.

Thanks again.

I locked two of the more vitriolic ones. If someone revives others, lock them as well.
