syntax error on line 330 from uerreference.module 5.x-1.8

I've just installed CCK 5.x.1.8, upon activating the module i get a syntax error on line 330 from the userreference.module.

'#description' => content_filter_xsst($field['widget']['description'])),

Removing the extra closing bracket at the end before the comma seems to have fixed it, though i'm not sure if i should remove it.

Please advise.
