I have just downloaded, installed and enabled the latest version of the i18n module. I have a multi-lingual site, where users should be able to view and edit their profile information (including custom profile fields) in their own language(s). I was under the impression that this was exactly what the 'Multilingual Profiles" was intended to do.

All languages in the site are loaded and enabled, and working. The i18n "Multilingual Profiles" module is also loaded and enabled - along with all dependencies (Profile, Strings and Locale modules). Nevertheless, nothing seems to change. There doesn't seem to be any functionality added anywhere.

If I go into admin->user->profile, there are no extra language options anywhere, not when creating new categories, nor when adding or editing profile fields. If I switch languages, and change some information (ie., the title or description of a custom profile field), then when I switch languages, it is clear that my change was applied across *all* languages of the site. So, it seems that the module is doing absolutely nothing.

If I am indeed missing something obvious, perhaps this is an indication that there should be some instructions, at least a minimal 'readme', if not a proper page in the manual, about how to use this.

After *much* wasted time, I've worked out that the user is meant to use Drupal's "Translate Interface" feature to search for the strings - field names, etc. - and translate them there. It is very unfortunate that documentation is so lacking in this module, to the point that the user can feel that the module has no function.

A little paragraph in the i18n manual about how to use all the different i18n sub-modules is sorely needed.

Thank you Jose. Believe it or not "one more help text line to a bunch of modules" makes a huge difference. If you anyone doubts this, try removing one line of text/work from a math, physics or chemistry equation and see what you get. While in some instances in writing software this may not make a difference, in many cases it does. Anything is easy when you already know how to do it. It's learning how to do it that's the pain in the arse. So, thank you.
