As the title says...

Or does any one know of any alternative modules that are similar for 6.x?

Nope, sorry. From the current module description: This module is looking for a new maintainer! Please contact me if you're interested.

This offer still stands of course :)

And for the record: this is really a no-brainer to port. Very, very easy, since Panels 2's API didn't change at all for the D6 port AFAIK.

Subscribing.

There is an awful lot of interest for this feature in 6.x. (I've never done any module development, or I'd tackle it myself.)

wim leers’s picture

Well, this module is still up for adoption.

I just took over maintainership - will port it this weekend and work through the rest of the queue

Awesome :) Thanks!

sub, any status updates for this?

pegleglax seems to have become inactive… Anybody else who wants to maintain/port this module?

i don't see a reason for a port.
Panels can include Views.

there are cases where Panels integration is really useful, like special fields or CCK fields.
that makes us avoid additional Views in the Panels which leads to better performance.

while that would also apply to this case, it's not that much a biggie because we already expect the code to be large and slower.
unless there's a specific compatibility problem, i think this is duplicating efforts.

#15 where can I make a view consisting of panels?

What I would like to do with this is make several mini panels showing different information (and consequentally consisting of panels that have views inside of them) to highlight what is new on my site. If there is another module that will do this, I would love to know what it is.

Ok. This is already available with the following modules and method:

Views 6.x-2.11
Views Carousel 6.x-1.0
Panels 6.x-3.x-dev

With these modules you are able to create "Panel Nodes" and then use Views to display them when you select Views Carousel as the style, it creates a carousel of the panel nodes you created.

This module therefore is defunct and without purpose.

another method is with Views Slideshow jCarousel Thumbs

i would recommend that over Views Carousel and jCarousel for Views, since all 3 use the same library, workings, and skins, but Slideshow has more features (pause), is more extensible and more supported.

edit: path spelling error

#18 I would not recommend Views Slideshow jCarousel Thumbs because that module is still in the development stages at this time.

lpalgarvio’s picture

it's in development, but it does work.

the other two are pretty much abandoned.

Sorry all I've been completely and utterly delinquent as the maintainer. I am reading the comments though and would appreciate further debate - We'll go from there. Also, I am about to release some sick stuff for the http://drupal.org/project/panels_960gs theme. Stay tuned to that over the next month.
