Add ability to tag child Image nodes with a Taxonomy term

Description

Image Import does this very well (part of Image), presumably as a substitute for creating a parent node with links to all the children.

Of course I can then create my parent node and link to the Image nodes with Image Assist, but it would be great if it was all one step.

Which makes me think in combination with Disable display-related features? http://drupal.org/node/311690, if this module just did the batch upload and node creation/tagging, but did the linking between parent and child in exactly the same way as Image Assist, then it wouldn't need to do any of the display functions, let IA do that.

But I suppose for that to happen this module would become a sub-module of IA. . .

so I posted over there: http://drupal.org/node/312751

Sorry if this is no-no, let me know no? :)

Turns out I was mistaken about Image Assist - the only links it creates between the "parent" node (the one you're on when you upload/create Image nodes) are the ones you explicitly embed using its inline tags.

So using these two together is a good option, but it would be great if UI could batch-add the taxonomy terms as Image Import does.

In the meantime I'll need to continue using Image Import, as I consider the functionality given by Upload Path to be important, and I can't seem to get UI to play well with that.

All the tags that you give the parent node will be given to the generated images as well.

It breaks forums. See #500480: Uploaded images screw up post counts on forums

How can I disable this automatic tagging? I really do NOT like this feature primarily as it screws up search results. It should at least be an option shouldn't it?
