If not, can you add this to the request file?
Also, how stable is this?
We could help test it this month if you think it stands a prayer of being production ready by November.

japanitrat commentedthis module does nothing else than generating the password. Per default Drupal will send a verification email to the user that registered on your installation. If you create a new user via /admin/user/user/create you'll have to activate the checkbox "Notify user of new account" right below the roles-settings.
second question: I tested it on three different webserver/databases and it did the job. AFAIK it seems stable, but as you can see, its beta, so we actually need you to verify :)

gtaylor commentedI get it. You're assuming that users are self-registering.
In my scenario, all users have userids created by an administrator. At least that's our current policy.
For our initial deployment, the administrator (me) is going to create about 400 users. Yet I don't want to notify the user immediately and nor do I really want to come up with passwords. We plan to announce the site to everybody at once and send them login instructions via an email.
I'll have our developer (I'm just an admin and project manager / reqts. person) take a look at your mod and see if we can extend to meet our requirements. If we can, we'll be back in touch.
Cheers and thanks for contributing. In the mean time, I'll close this issue.
