Its a weird problem.
the anonymous users are displayed the graphics of the five stars. but once they are logged in they only see the drop down menu to give rating?
Anything am I missing?
Checked the fivestar settings at admin page, checked the option in content types.

quicksketchYou might check that fivestar.js is being loaded on the page (turn off JS aggregation first) and check for JavaScript errors on the page. If a JavaScript error is encountered before Fivestar can run, all JavaScript will abort and the star rating widget will not appear.

i think the shadowbox was creating some problem
uninstalled, cleared the cache
