Although any logged in member of drupal.org can edit most of the documentation, there are some pages that require elevated rights to edit. A few are set that way on purpose, because they are "sensitive" in some way; this is accomplished by assigning the "Full HTML" input filter to the page.
However, most pages that are set with restrictive input filters are set that way because the default Filtered HTML input format used to exclude some useful HTML tags (such as IMG and TABLE). This was changed, but not all the pages have yet been unlocked from their high-permission formats.
So, if you find a page that you would like to edit, and (after logging in) you don't have permission to edit it, you can submit an issue to the documentation issue queue to ask for the page to be unlocked. You should fill it out as follows:
- Component: Other documentation issues
- Category: task
- Leave the following at their defaults: Priority: normal, Assigned: Unassigned, and Status: active.
- Title the issue something like: Unlock a documentation page
- In the issue body, give a link to the page and ask for it to be unlocked.
We'll review the page to try to figure out why it was locked, and probably unlock the page. If it needs to stay locked, we'll tell you why. Either way, the issue will be updated to let you know.
