automated email from a view

Hi all,

I'm rebuilding a site in Drupal that previously had a functionality that I need to emulate. Been trying to find modules that may be able to help me out with this, but no luck just yet. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

What I need it to do is this:

on a weekly basis (say every friday pm)

1. run a process to gather every new news item
2. gather this info toegther into a plain text email (or html email if possible - this is a 'nice-to-have feature')
3. mail this out to a predefined list of email addresses

I can see how number 1 could be done, by perhaps using a view, but am pretty stumped on the others.

Can anybody make any suggestions or point me in the right direction?
