This is probably simple but how do I turn off Friendlist Node Access from appearing as a field in my content types?
I want to set it so that regular users do not see this when then contribute content. It is really confusing as it sounds so they would not know what to do with it.

mercmobily commentedHi,
This is not possible right now...
But, it would make a lot of sense. Basically, what you want is simply a permission, so that only users with a specific permission can limit who can view their nodes... is that correct?

michellepurestock commentedHi,
Yes that is correct. I am building a new social network and it is just a lot of things for a regular user to look at. Just a thought I wonder if there was a way for the user to choose whether not there friends so their feed (meaning the creation of nodes) in their user account, like they do now with things like guestbook. Not on the nodes themselves?
I wish I had development knowledge to help! But I don't.

mercmobily commentedHi,
Sorry, I have no idea what you mean by this:
"I am building a new social network and it is just a lot of things for a regular user to look at. Just a thought I wonder if there was a way for the user to choose whether not there friends so their feed (meaning the creation of nodes) in their user account, like they do now with things like guestbook. It looks like a bit of cut&paste went wrong... explain? :-D

michellepurestock commentedWOW, that did not make sense. Need to have the first cup of coffee before I type.
First of all-the team on this have done such a great job with this module. I am building a new social networking site all on Drupal 6 (previous sites have been Drupal 5) and this module has so much more kick to it than buddylist ever did.
So back to what I was trying to say-
Right now when the Guestbook module is turned on and in use, users have the option in their user account settings of having a guestbook and receiving notifications if another user signs their guestbook.
Having the Friendlist Node Access on Content seems misplaced. Whenever a user creates a blog or other type of content, the settings in Friendlist Node access do not make sense there. Rather should these settings be under a users account settings instead just like Guestbook?
Also why is "Access for relation type friend" appearing when a user creates content? What does this mean?

mercmobily commentedHi,
Hummm i have the feeling you are misunderstanding the purpose of the node access part of FriendList.
You write: "Whenever a user creates a blog or other type of content, the settings in Friendlist Node access do not make sense there.". Well, it does if for example you want to make a blog entry only available to your friends.
"Rather should these settings be under a users account settings instead just like Guestbook?"
No, because they are node-specific.
"Also why is "Access for relation type friend" appearing when a user creates content? What does this mean?"
Hang on a minute... maybe the solution to your problem is to _simply_ disable the node access part of FriendList? To answer your question, the setting is there in order to allow you to decide exactly who can see the node. It's an extra module in FriendList. Now I get the feeling that you don't actually want this... functionality, and it's confusing you. Am I right?

michellepurestock commentedThanks. I turned it off.
I guess what I was trying to say is that when you have node access turned on-there is just a lot of choices for the average user to look through and understand as they create content.
Just a thought for you all!
Thanks!

mariusooms commentedThanks for expressing your concerns. Hopefully we will be able to make node access more accessible! Currently this issue is open here:

ezrabutler commentedHi,
I seem to have the same issue:
I can't find the "node access part" of FriendList. I know that this is probably a really simple fix, but I don't know where to look even.
Thanks,
Ez
::fixed -- Sorry it wasn't very clear::

mercmobily commentedHi,
You need to enable an extra module, friendlist_access, to enable the access check in Friendlist...
