documentation: which patch?

Much time has gone by since the module was released. Can you possibly check the link at
http://drupal.org/node/119208, and confirm which patch to use?

Is this an accurate patched file?

Frankly, with the reports of the error message at 239834, and http://drupal.org/node/217937, and the multiple patches available at 119208, and that we're up to 5.12, I find the prospect of trying this a little daunting. I'll give it all a try, but wondering if the maintainer can give the documentation a good read-through, and maybe offer some clarification (and the promised bug fix at 217973), to better guide new users of this module.

I'm a happy editablefields user. A note about differences with editview may be a helpful addition as well, to the documentation.
