Filtering images in selection

How about letting the filtering be decided by a view? Then if I need filtering by language of the image, I can just update the included filter, or create my own filters.

Then people can a) create their specific needs view, and b) contribute the views to the project. Then each view contributed could be a submodule with its own dependencies.

Huh, pretty cool idea, if I might say so myself ;). I wonder how hard it would be to create a view and add some javascript to pop it up and to pop it down again. And then for other node types...

The filters could probably be linked to user roles for granularity.
