Not recognizing update

Description

Sometimes, Update Status does not indicate that an update has been applied (up to date) after I install the new module. I've cleared the dB cache and checked again over and over. Inspecting the {module}.info file reveals the updated version is on board. A current example on my site is Webform 5.x-2.3 has just been installed and Update Status continues to show that 5.x-2.2 is the active version.

I'm giving this post a "minor" priority because I know that the update has been applied. It's just annoying that Update Status does not consistently show the current version.

"Update Status" is not much help if I have to check the {module}.info files for the true version number.

I have the same problem only with the voting API module Have installed version 5.x-1.6 but the Update module shows 5.x-1.5. This only does this on one drupal installation as the same modules appears correct on another similar installation.

I posted a error report on the voting API module page - http://drupal.org/node/366799 - thinking at first the fault may lie there. Now I am not too sure and suspect it lies with the update module - unless something else might be responsible. Any clues anyone?

This seems to explain the problem.
