Anyway, I can help to debug.
So, where to begin with? have you prepared the codes for d6.x? or I have to start from the module for d5.x?

Turgrid commentedUPDATE: I am on schedule to release a largely untested, but functional dev snapshot on the 12th of February! Bugs and a few more of the features I have planned will be worked out the following one to two weeks. Upon initial dev release, I will post a chipin, so I can get reimbursed for the development time you requested and continue to work on the module. A production ready release will perhaps be ready in a week or two. Get ready to test!
Turgrid commentedI have committed an initial drupal 6 release. The dev snapshot is available here: http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/ubercart_marketplace-6.x-1.x-dev.ta.... This release is largely untested and may very well contain bugs, although none are currently known. In addition, a few features have not been implemented yet (namely, file download support). Such features and the bugs you identify will be fixed in a timely matter over the coming days. Lastly, I did not have a chance to write the upgrade scripts for the database. Therefore, if you are upgrading from d5 version, you may have to make changes to your database manually. For the time being I would recommend a fresh install on testing platform only.
If you would like to help support the development of Ubercart Marketplace (both for the initial conversion to d6 and future bug fixing / feature implementation), please do so using the chipin below:
http://ubercartmarketplace.chipin.com
Your contributions will make a production-ready and rich marketplace experience a reality. Thanks.
imp7 commentedThis is great progress Turgrid, I wish I had the immediate time to test your work. File download support is a feature I require.
I will be back when my time permits and more funding.
So come on people lets help with this chip in with what you can, this is a module that has some amazing potential for some beautiful websites!
j0rd commentedI've been working on a marketplace (D5) site. Just got an email from a different client about another "marketplace" style site..but I'm not interested in working on D5 anymore...so I poked around and noticed there was a D6 port in the work.
Tossed you over the paypal cash I had laying in the account.
Keep up the good work dude.
jo1ene commentedYou state that file download support is not working on this release. What exactly isn't working? If I handle the file feature for the products manually and the user isn't responsible for that, will UCM work anyway for me? All of my products are files at this time. I'm mostly interested in merchant reports and disbursements.
Turgrid commentedmp_files is not included, which simply includes the ability for a seller to easily add a file download without using features. If you can use the generic Ubercart features functionality, Marketplace should work well for you.

dmadruga commentedHey Turgrid,
first of all: thank you for the excellent job! I've been testing UMP and it seems great.
Unfortunately MP is useless for me without the file download support, that's why I decided to start writing it by myself. Have you already done any progress in this module and if so would it be possible to share what you've done so far with us? Do you have any tip or guideline that would be useful for me? I'm not very familiar with Ubercart API so any help will be appreciated.
Best regards,
Daniel Madruga.
Turgrid commentedAny help writing this would be appreciated. As far as coded work, have a look at the latest Marketplace Drupal 5 version. I fully supported file downloads in mp_file in this package; I simply have not converted it over to Drupal 6 (and the updated version of CCK Filefield). Have a look there and if you have questions, you can try and PM me. Thanks.

Although I have a merchant just contact me who has hundreds of products, and file support would be helpful! The best thing to do is make a donation. Comment #33
Turgrid commentedI have committed some changes to the d6 dev snapshot. Please wait for Drupal.org to repackage it (date of release should report May 9).
As this is a dev release, DO NOT upgrade a production site. This is for TESTING ONLY.
Of important note, is a new sub module, mp_quote. This module was graciously sponsored by sociarts.com. mp_quote adds the following functionality:
Setup for the mp_quote module requires enabling ONLY the mp_quote method as a shipping quote method (admin/store/settings/quotes/methods/general). The flat rate module and usps module must be enabled as modules, but NOT selected as enabled shipping methods. One flat rate should be configured (admin/store/settings/quotes/methods/flatrate) and the machine-readable ID of this flat rate should be entered here (admin/store/settings/quotes/methods/mpquote). On the product pages, sellers should be able to choose between USPS or Flat Rate. If they choose flat rate, they can simply enter an amount in the normal flat rate field. Seller settings are configurable at (user/%/selling/settings).
Please test this new feature (among the other changes) and submit your ideas and/or bug reports. I realize that some bugs or patches already submitted by users here are not included in this release. I apologize for this, but have not had a chance to commit all the suggestions people have posted. I would like to extend special thanks to those who have submitted thoughtful ideas, patches, or bug reports. In addition, individuals who have contributed financially are greatly appreciated and ensure the continuation of this project. If you would like to see a certain feature added or already use Marketplace and make money, please consider contributing to improve this project or support its developer. Thanks.
j0rd commentedSounds like a wonderful set of improvements. Glad to hear about uc_quote which used to be a missing piece of the puzzle.
I'm curious if you have time, to elaborate what would be required in extending other shipping methods for uc_quote. Might help future developers looking to add their preferred shipping method.
Anonymous (not verified) commentedTurgrid, I had a go at the mp_file module because a client was looking for this functionality (seller's able to sell downloadable files). I upgraded your mp_file module to drupal 6.x, and while it still is rusty, I got it working on my site. Anyone interested in how I did it can read my blog post about it: http://www.wildkatana.com/blog/ubercart-marketplace-file-downloads-drupal-6
Hopefully Turgrid can use my code, clean it up and improve it, and include it in his Ubercart Marketplace 6.x package. Thanks for all your hard work, Turgrid!
jacobpov commentedThank you I will check it because i really need it!
coloryan commentedFirst, thanks for all the great work. This module is a great compliment to Ubercart.
I'm trying to allow my sellers to fullfill their own orders, and it's not coming up (even with all permissions that I can think of). Is anyone else having this same problem, or is there something that I'm overelooking?
My screen shows the 'Send email notification on update', but not the option to mark the order as completed.
Also, when I fulfill the order from the admin pages, it doesn't show up as completed in the seller page.
If it makes any difference, I'm using MP in conjunction with uc_auction.
TheOldGuy223 commentedI used the modified mp_files and I cant seem to get marketplace to associate the filefield as a file download. the name of the filefield is "download" and in the seller configuration screen I told it to use "download" i also tried "field_download". neither work.
In other words it wont add the filefield to the download feature

syndicateStorm commentedUbercart Marketplace is great! I was about 8 hours into developing exactly this same module when I realized it already existed. Saved me some time :-). I'm busy familiarizing myself with the Drupal 5.x version.
I'd love to help develop this for 6.x, and add new features, etc... Is there a to do list? How do I make contributions? I'm fairly new to Drupal so I'm not sure how things work around here: cvs, etc? Also, what are the missing ingredients in the 5.x version that make it a beta version? I'm sure I would figure this all out with time but your comments will save me from rediscovering what you all already know.
Turgrid commentedThanks for the positive comments. I am always interested in community assistance and feedback.
Both versions are ok feature and stability wise. Unfortunately there are a few minor bugs and tweaks in the issue queue for both that I have not had time to address yet. Both also could use more testing. 6.x is missing file download support (maybe some developers are working on this). As far as a todo list, there have been some feature requests in this issue queue if you take a look. I do not have an explicit one, other than clean up the modules and implement the patches and fixes various folks have found.
If you (or anyone) is interested in contributing, Drupal uses cvs for version control. I can grant other developers access to Ubercart Marketplace's cvs or you can simply provide me the code or patches and I will commit the changes. As always, any help of any form is greatly appreciated and goes right back to the Drupal community. If you want to discuss in detail feature ideas or possible directions to take the module, feel free to start a new issue so things can stay somewhat organized.

droid19 commentedCan anybody tell me how to allow sellers to specify the stock level of a product?
elvis2 commentedNormally in UC, once the product node is created the a "stock" tab will be available to the user. From there they can enter in the quantity on hand. I do believe they need permissions to see this. And, I am not sure if MP overrides this feature, haven't tested MP and uc_stock module together.
elvis2 commented@Turgrid, thanks for explaining that. After reviewing the code I see where everything is taken place. Could we document this a bit better? Like where to access and what to expect and paypal ipn setup? I am willing to help with this.

syndicateStorm commentedthill_, wildkatana, Turgrid,
See the attached for the latest 6.x mp_file (assuming no one else has made recent changes). Place the attached mp_file directory here: drupal\sites\all\modules\ubercart_marketplace, and it should work. I believe its fully functional but its hot off the press and I
haven't had a chance to debug much. Users should now be able to commit files.
If anyone finds any bugs or makes minor feature changes let me know and I'll add them. I'll send the files out again in a couple weeks once I've had a chance to polish/debug them more. If someone needs control of the files to make major changes feel free, just let me know so I can send you my changes as I make them...

problue solutionsThanks for the work on mp_file
I had this working on my site but now when a seller tries to create a product a blank white page is displayed, but not the regular wsod you get with drupal....theres a javascript popup message as well, that simply says "No". You can see it in the attached pic.
Funny thing is, if i click ok on the popup, the blank white page is still displayed, but if i hit back or manually navigate to another page I get the confirmation messages as follows:
The product is indeed created.
What could be causing this error popup and blank page? Like i say it was working before and I havent installed any new modules etc, I've tried playing with every setting I can think of and even deleted the marketplace and mp_file modules and installed them again but still no luck.
Another thing is that this does not happen for the admin (user 1), only happens with users in seller roles, but when I try to create any of the products as admin the file doesnt attach to the product!
I've tried everything, been over the permissions and settings many times over for several hours now and I've no idea what else to try.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks :)

Will it be possible on the D6/UC2.0 version of Marketplace for the buyer to pay the seller directly? The commission will then be paid by the seller through a monthly invoice.
coloryan commentedThe issue to work around for paying directly to the seller is multiple products. If one buyer purchases ten things from ten different sellers, they would have to pay each seller directly. UC would have to provide payment info for each seller at the time of checkout. The current structure is makes things easier for the buyer.

Are you doing any ongoing development on mp_file? Issues have been popping up in relation to mp_file (http://drupal.org/node/594844, http://drupal.org/node/595008) and it seems like a good idea to either commit it to marketplace or branch it off into its own add-on project. Ideally it'd be part of marketplace since it's part of 5.x.
problue solutionsThanks syndicateStorm, I'm just glad it was a bug in the code and not a conflict with another module! I'll test this out when I get time.
syndicateStorm commentedHi jbrodbeck, let's commit mp_file to marketplace, that seems to be where it belongs. Agreed? I have been putting out fires elsewhere, but I am in a position to work on mp_file again, and plan to do further development. Post #89 should be the most up to date version of mp_file baring the the two issues you brought up in post #90. From here on out I can report my progress/development by posting issues and patches, if that is preferred?
Your thoughts?

Issues and patches would be great, cvs access may be possibe as well if you have any interest at all and Turgrid is ok with it.
Unless you plan to add any additional changes in the next couple days, I'll start by reviewing the file in post #89 with Korchkidu's changes.
syndicateStorm commentedjbrodbeck,
Sounds good. cvs works for me if Turgrid is on board with it. Otherwise, I can move forward without it. Either way is fine, whatever works best for you. I'll postpone any further work to mp_file until you've had a chance to review it. Thanks.

Turgrid commentedPost testing (jbrodbeck's review), we can commit the revisions to mp_file. The direction it is taking looks good. Thanks syndicateStorm (and those that have or are testing it).
@syndicateStorm: if you wish to only contribute this set of revisions to mp_file, I suppose it would be simplest to have one of us commit your patches. If you have longer-term desires to contribute to mp_file or other portions of Marketplace, I would be happy to discuss CVS access.
Hara Kim commentedsyndicateStorm I am messing with the mpfile but is there a way to make the file paths outside instead of inside the "files" folder?
Hara Kim commentedThat's the error I get if I try to upload a file as a seller. Even the the directory is set to in my "files" folder... ReBlogComments is the title of the post. I am confused haha. It also said below that it was uploaded but I cant see the file anywhere on my server.
I just noticed those errors only occur if I have this checked:
When I do it the unchecked way the file isn't delivered either not sure why though
Comment #100
syndicateStorm commentedhitboy,
Have you seen wildkatana's post #35? He does a great job at going through the setup for mp_file. I also noticed your warning message contains an address with dual forward slashes?
My site allows sellers to upload and download files, which sounds similar to what you are doing. Perhaps your seller (or authenticated user) doesn't have the proper permissions (this was the source most of my initial problems with mp_file)? If you keep having problems and you think it's a bug as opposed to a setup problem let me know and I'll see if I can track it down (although, I may need some more details from you to recreate the problem).
syndicateStorm commentedSounds good Turgrid. I'll probably have a few more changes in the short term which I can post as patches or issues. We can talk CVS later if I end up needing to do more. Thanks.
Hara Kim commenteddoes the file name have to be the title of the node?
syndicateStorm commentedIt shouldn't have to be. Check out post #90 for some useful fixes as well. They might pertain to your question.
Hara Kim commentedI uploaded files with the same name as title and its still not working. I have the settings set so that sellers are able to upload files etc. What does the second part of error have to do with line 123 on the mpfile?
I am kind of confused about the first error as well I read the posts you recommended. Did you want me to try there versions of mpfiles?
syndicateStorm commentedhitboy, I'll try to look at this in more detail in the near future. For now here are some quick thoughts and questions...
Line 123 is a php copy statement, so this appears to be some OS permissions issue? Perhaps you aren't allowed to "write" to the directory you are trying to write to (you should check this)? Are you using Windows, Linux, what server are you using? Where is sun.zip located anyways? I see "themes" in the address, you aren't uploading from within your Drupal site directory, correct?
The last part of the statement is a separate error. I think it may be looking in the database and not finding the file there either. This would just be a side effect of the first problem, probably.
Let's just keep using the version of mp_file you have for now. Don't worry about the other posts unless you feel inclined to do so.
Hara Kim commentedThanks man got this to work with your file. I had to just change permission on my files folder to 777 however is this safe?
syndicateStorm commentedGreat, I'm glad that worked.
My site isn't live yet so I haven't given much thought to security. I wouldn't think you would need 777 but I can't say for sure, I'm sure you can find something in the documentation. I think the files folder also has to be located outside your Drupal directory or something like that for security...
Best,

The right way - to make it mandatory to fill, because this is exactly what will sell. However, in this case can not edit the node, because when you edit a CCK node field is blank and must be filled. Are there any ways to avoid this?

Hara Kim commentedI have experienced the same thing so I took it off to be required although its not ideal it is a quick fix to the problem. I think to actually solve it would have to make some serious coding changes but I could be wrong..

Stomper commentedJust curious is there any functionality already/planned integrated with UberCart Marketplace that has functionality similar to Etsy Teams (http://team.etsy.com/). I'm sure functionality can be extended using Organic Groups.
With these teams "users" will be able to organize and market/promote/get paid under a joint entity like an "pseudo-company" or collaborative. Each team profile will include links to each member's profile, a centralized listing of all members goods for sale, feedback etc. And if Organic Groups is used, some level of customizability will be possible on the member-end --> backgrounds, colors, photos, blogs etc.
Teams could be organized as a collaborative or a company. Organization determines pay system. For a company, the team leader ("boss") would get a percentage of each member's sales. For a collaborative, percentage of each member goes to the teams account, where the total is divided and distributed equally at predetermined time intervals.
Feedback appreciated

I believe you will get more answers if you create a new thread. This one is quite big now...^^
Best regards.

syndicateStorm commentedhitboy, keereel,
I've been working on this problem. It does require a bit of coding due to the way "features" work. I'll let you know when I come up with a solution. In the mean time I'm not requiring the cck field. I also don't include nodes without features in my search results...
You may also find the patch at http://drupal.org/node/601980 useful if you are allowing users to upload files.

keereelOne possibility could be the next path. Almost always need to show the buyer preview-version of the file, which we offer to buy him, whether it be a picture, text or sound. Maybe we can use our CCK-field and for that, too? That is, when you create a node is used to load the main file, which is transferred to a secret location, and the field is cleared. Then somehow the handler on the site creates preview-version of the file and inserted in our CCK-field. Thus, CCK-bound completion of the field observed, and the preview is displayed on the site. However, it is not clear what would happen if the seller wants to edit the node. I understand that this route is rather complicated and not very obvious, but maybe someone will come across in a more optimal solution.

syndicateStorm commentedStruggling with mp_reports tonight... The start and end dates on the "Seller Reports" page always default to Dec. 31, 1969. The "Update Report" button returns the right data (I think) but the dates in the "Customize seller report parameters" always revert back to 1969 upon submission. It looks like it might be some kind of caching issue but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Anyone else having this problem?
I would be happy to take a look at fixing this, but maybe it's just me? Thoughts anyone?

jbrodbeck commentedsyndicateStorm,
I've noticed quite a few errors with the reports. There are some database issues with masspay and I've also noticed quite a few date related issues. I'm trying to get all of that stuff hammered out in the next couple updates (which is one reason I've not had a chance to review mp_file yet) since the reporting and masspay are critical at the moment.

Hara Kim commentedSounds good man I will be waiting for the update

syndicateStorm commentedThanks, I'll focus my efforts elsewhere then, such as mp_file, etc. If I run out of things to do, I'll see if you need any help, but I'm sure you'll have it fixed by then. Good luck.

werfu commentedHi Syndicate, I'd be willing to help you with the file issue. I'm currently doing a project for my BSc. using übercart and marketplace. We're setting up a e-commerce site with a native client frontend (a-la steam), and we want to have multiple sellers (hence the use of MP). I've found out that the file support for the MP part is less than ideal and I'll have to implement a fix. Let's not duplicate effort. Send me a PM!
Btw, I think that Ubercart and Marketplace are nice and should really be merged together. I know both project are in need of volunteer and I'll surely make some contribution during the next months.

jamesialford commentedHi all, I am working on a new site and would like to use Ubercart 2, Marketplace and Drupal 6. I have installed all modules and setup everything.
I am having a problem: The mp_seller_order_statuses tablehas no entrys in it. I have sold some test products and I think the table should be filled.
I am reading alot about having to a mass pay or something like that. Can anyone help me with directions on how to complete the order process?

timekiller commentedTurgrid,
I found marketplace in my searches for a mall type module for Drupal. After looking though the functionality your module provides I can see it is a good start to what I need to accomplish. Point being that so long as our goals are similar, I might be in a position to help maintain Marketplace, and maybe even expand on it.
Some things I need to add for a website I am developing for others:
* Store fronts - every seller gets their own store url which features only their products.
* Seller Categories - In addition to the Ubercart categories set by the store admin, seller can create their own categories used to organize products in their store. Products get assigned to both a site (Ubercart) category, and a store category.
* Seller Payment options - Although I'm not a fan of the idea, the people I am developing this for want sellers to specify their own google checkout code and get paid directly. Of course this means multiple checkouts.
Those are just a couple of the things I need to add. As well as completing the functionality you have already added to Marketplace.
Some background on me and what I'm doing: I am an experienced PHP developer with years of experience. I am still fairly new to Drupal, but I'm picking up on the Drupal way of doing things fast. I was hired to build a mall type site that incorporates restricted CMS functionality for vendors.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know I am about to start some serious dev work for a production site using your modules (and Drupal 6.x), and any bug fixes or new functionality I add I will contribute back.

Stomper commentedThis thread may be of interest to you (http://drupal.org/node/586506) concerning your need for store fronts. Thread discusses the use of subdomains assigned to each "store".
Do you plan to implement these storefronts via a subdomain?
torgospizza#126: For the "store fronts" issue, you are probably better off looking at the Organic Groups module: http://drupal.org/project/og

longwaveThe version of mp_file from comment #89 has been committed to CVS and will show up in the next -dev release. The other mp_file issues in the queue still need to be revisited, please comment on those if further changes are needed to the version that I committed.
I'm closing this thread because it is getting too long and difficult to manage. Any bugs or support requests for the 6.x version of Ubercart Marketplace should be posted as separate issues from now on.
hebhansen commentedAre individual shopadmin able to theme shop's individually in this module?
Can you custom the site root, so that you get exposed to all evenly - and not only the most node-contributing shops?
Is BtoB and BtoC supported?
Looks very promising this one :-)
syndicateStorm commentedThanks longwave. It's good to see mp_file finally getting committed to 6x. There should be an improved version ready late this month or next month from werfu or myself. We'll create a new thread/patch when it's ready.

Stomper commentedWhat is the possibility of having an escrow service (mediary that holds money from buyer, until seller ships) implemented within Marketplace?
Could it be pulled of with extra/new permissions for a user, where the "escrow user" could accept payments from buyers, and then use those payments as payments for the seller?
longwaveThis issue is closed - please do not post new comments here.
Instead, you should create individual bug reports or feature requests for the 6.x version at http://drupal.org/node/add/project-issue/ubercart_marketplace to make things easier to manage.
