If I haven't overlooked something obvious, Biblio dates seem to offer only year for the Published field, and perhaps year and month in some other fields. But Newspapers and Magazine publishing dates need to also have days included.

Can one add a CCK date field to Biblio?

This would be fully solved by #682044: Support fields (CCK) in D7 Bibliography Module because biblio could then use the standard Date module. Date already has some granularity features, and more is being added with #259308: Allow "fuzzy" granularity.
