I am working on separate sections of my site for users with different interests; however, I would like to have users only register once. I am using the Bio module, and would set up separate profiles for different areas (to reflect the different types of content).

The separate sections would need to have their own menus, etc., so having a multisite installation could really fit. It's that user table that causes the problem.

I am tinkering with the "multisite manager" module.

Which would be better, a multisite installation, or a single installation using "sections", "og", etc?

Thanks for your advice.

afaik, native multisite was never really meant for anything beyond running sites from a shared codebase for ease of sw maintainence-- it always makes me nervous to mess with the db directly in ways that are non-standard.

I always recommend users take a look at the http://drupal.org/project/domain, http://drupal.org/project/og, and http://drupal.org/project/sections modules.

I am familiar with OG and sections. Domain looks like it might be what I'm looking for. Thanks
