I'm trying to stop displaying links based on category here.

If you look at this screenshot you'll see that the category is fully denied in the taxonomy access settings.

I did not dig to see if this is a bug in this module or in taxonomy access but I assume that if no view access is granted then it would not be displayed on this page.

Jeff,

Try the latest dev version. We had an issue with another access module and we fixed it in CVS. See if the latest devel fixes the issue?
